Financing models, co-productions, new audiovisual languages, and the impact of new technologies, from Artificial Intelligence to VFX. These are the topics that the leading players in the audiovisual industry from France, the UK, the USA, and Italy will focus on Audio-Visual Producers Summit 2024, taking place in Calabria from June 10 to 12.
Featured speakers include prominent figures in the international audiovisual industry, such as Wayne Garvie (President of International Production, Sony Pictures Television), Veronica Sullivan (Senior Vice President, Head of Global Production External Affairs and State & Local Government, NBC Universal), Chiara D’Alfonso (Head of Production Italy, Netflix), Alessandro Saba (Head of Original Production, The Walt Disney Company), Devon Franklin (President and CEO, Franklin Entertainment), John August (Screenwriter, WGA) and Christina Lee Storm (Founder & CEO, Asher XR).
Over three days, the event will feature meetings and panels aimed at assessing the current state of the industry and outlining its future under the theme of “New Frontiers”. This open discussion will explore the challenges and opportunities within a global and interconnected perspective.
Additionally, this year’s summit will host the Maximo Awards, designed to recognize and promote excellence in all areas of the audiovisual sector, from artistic to production, and from conception to screenplay. These awards highlight the value and synergy of the diverse talents that have transformed storytelling and production methods, making Italian serial productions increasingly competitive on the international stage. The Maximo Awards ceremony will take place on the evening of June 11 at the Altafiumara Resort in Villa San Giovanni. Honorees include director and screenwriter Massimiliano Bruno with Alessio Maria Federici for “Non ci resta che il crimine – La serie”, Marco Pontecorvo “Per Elisa – Il caso Claps” director, Rosa Diletta Rossi, the star of “Maria Corleone”, and the extraordinary actor Alessio Boni for “Il metodo Fenoglio – L’estate fredda”. The AVP Summit is organized by APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi, with support from the MiC – Ministry of Culture, Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual, the MAECI – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation/ICE, and Fondazione Calabria Film Commission. The event is held in collaboration with Cinecittà, MPA Motion Picture Association, PGA – Producers Guild of America, CNC – Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée, Unifrance, and BFI – British Film Institute.
The summit is hosted in the extraordinary region of Calabria, which has skillfully showcased its natural and cultural heritage through innovative cinema narratives, developing a highly professional audiovisual sector.
