The town lies on a limestone rock towering 60 meters above sea level. In the old town stands the Romanesque-Norman Cathedral, surrounded by a panoramic square and close to a touristic harbour. The noble buildings, characterised by typical gate, are date back to the 7th and 8th centuries and they perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. There is a private museum of ancient crafts of Calabria.
